You might need to get approval from someone else before sending document for electronic signature. You can set up such a workflow adding members in a procedure as validator.

As a reminder, The creation of a signature request is a three-step process:
- Add members (signers, validators) & order
- Add the documents that need to be signed
- Define procedure settings
At the first step, when you add members, a contact can be assigned one of the following two status: Signer or Validator
A signatory is a contact who has to sign all the documents of the procedure. Its use is legal.
A Validator is a contact who only has to give his approval on the content of the documents. Its use is linked to an internal process.

🔸 Either as a signer or validator, the contact will have the possibility to refuse to sign or validate a procedure. In this case, he will be able to give reasons for his refusal in order to inform the sender of the procedure.
In my department, I have to ask my sales manager and then my client to sign a customer contract. Before that, this contract must be validated internally by our legal department.
In this case, the legal department is not a signer of the contract but only has to validate that it is still in line with the company's requirements.
I can therefore add a person from the legal department as validator in my procedure, then add the Head of Sales in second position and activate the ordering of the signers.
As a result, until the person in the legal department does not accepted or validated the customer contract, the Sales Director will not be notified or asked to sign the document.
